Associate General Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for supporting the company’s general commercial activities in North America. Reviewing and commenting on commercial contracts of all types (including purchase, distribution, supply, manufacturing, outsourcing, licensing, marketing, sponsorship, publicity, confidentiality and service agreements); Counseling on legal compliance related to advertising and promotions in all forms of traditional and emerging media, including e-mail, print, video, point of sale and web marketing campaigns, client loyalty programs, user generated content, sweepstakes, cause marketing, subscription programs, and gift cards; Counseling on privacy and security issues related to marketing practices, e-commerce websites and data collection and use and drafting terms of use and privacy policies for mobile applications and social media platforms; Counseling and advising internal clients on regulatory compliance matters, including product packaging and labeling requirements, FDA and FTC issues, California Proposition 65 and state and municipal cosmetology and other licensing laws; Facilitate domestic and foreign trademark and product name clearance searching, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement, copyright, and patent disputes with outside counsel; Provide assistance and support on commercial litigation and claims; Act as a contact for legal issues involving the company business while working with local counsel in those jurisdictions. Should have 10+ years of relevant experience, with both law firm and in-house experience, including management of a commercial legal team. Must have Law degree and top academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school. California bar membership in good standing required. Should have excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
