This team works to build strategic frameworks based on data and empowers the newsroom to use data to inform strategies and achieve its ambitious goals. This team sits under The Post's Audience umbrella.
Collaboration with key stakeholders is central to this role, including the company-wide Analytics team, top newsroom editors, subscriptions, marketing, product and engineering teams.
Major functions of this role:
Drive the relationship between the newsroom and analytics departments, ensuring alignment on organizational priorities.
Develop best practices and approaches to measure the success of the newsroom's largest initiatives, news events and other projects.
Help devise a roadmap that encourages using analytics to inform editorial ideas and decisions.
We are looking for someone with most of the following qualifications:
Familiarity with analytics tools and suites such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Chartbeat and Parse.ly.
The ability to perform data analysis using Excel, Tableau and similar tools.
Experience working with and driving relationships with technical stakeholders, such as analytics, research, engineering and/or product teams.
Demonstrated experience using data to analyze coverage areas or answer business questions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in translating data and trends for stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
A strong quantitative, creative and problem-solving mindset.
Four or more years of experience in digital media, news, market research, analytics or a related field.
Strong candidates will have some of the following qualifications:
Advanced skills in the tools and platforms listed above or others.
Experience growing scale and/or engagement for a news publisher.
Experience managing and rolling out products, such as new dashboards, tools or reports.
This position is based in our Washington newsroom and is not eligible for remote work.
Anyone interested should upload a résumé and a cover letter that highlights your experience using data to identify new opportunities to our jobs portal
by April 6. All application materials can be uploaded to the same field. The cover letter should be addressed to Director of Subscriber Engagement and Newsletters Tessa Muggeridge, Managing Editor Kat Downs Mulder and Managing Editor Krissah Thompson.
