Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Multi-State Associate Attorney to join its fully remote practice, with a primary location in Charlottesville, Virginia. This role requires active licensure in at least two of the following jurisdictions: North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia. Duties

• Independently manage cases from initial intake through final resolution, ensuring timely and effective outcomes.


• Develop and execute legal strategies grounded in thorough factual investigation and rigorous legal analysis.


• Maintain substantive communications with courts, administrative agencies, clients, financial institutions, and opposing counsel.


• Draft and review complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and security instruments.


• Appear at hearings, trials, and administrative proceedings as necessary to advocate for client interests.


 

Requirements

• Active licensure in two or more of the following states: North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia.


• Minimum of three years of substantive legal experience in relevant practice areas.


• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.


• Strong written and oral advocacy skills with a persistent, resourceful, and proactive approach to problem-solving.


 

Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.


 

Certifications

• Active bar admission in required jurisdictions.


 

Skills

• Proficiency in Mac/Apple operating systems and Microsoft Office 365.


• Experience with Adobe Acrobat, timekeeping, case management software, and legal research applications.


• High level of organization, time management, and personal accountability.


• Ability to travel for in-person hearings, firm trainings, and meetings as required.
