Associate Attorney - Insurance Coverage

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join their insurance coverage group in New York City, NY. The position offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work options from NY, NJ, or PA. The ideal candidate will possess 2-10 years of experience in insurance coverage and hold a valid bar license in NY, NJ, or PA.

Duties

• Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, answer written discovery, and participate in arbitrations and trials.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.
• Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
• Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff.
• Manage cases while adhering to billing and budget requirements.
• Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.

Requirements

• 2-10 years of experience in insurance coverage.
• NY, NJ, and/or PA bar license, active and in good standing, required.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations.
• Demonstrated interest in defense litigation.
• Clerkship experience, a plus.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar license in NY, NJ, and/or PA.
