Job Overview

A law firm seeks a General Liability Associate in Bridgeport, CT, to join a dynamic civil litigation team. This role focuses on insurance defense, including professional liability, legal malpractice, and premises liability matters. The ideal candidate will manage a caseload from inception to conclusion, working alongside experienced attorneys to drive impactful outcomes for clients in a flexible, collaborative environment.

Duties

• Independently manage a civil litigation caseload, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests while adhering to strict deadlines.



• Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, providing strong courtroom advocacy.



• Conduct comprehensive legal research and write memoranda to support case strategies and assist in developing effective litigation plans.



• Collaborate with clients, experts, and team members to devise strategies, providing regular status updates and written reports.

Requirements

• 1 to 5 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or a closely related practice area.



• Admitted to the Connecticut State Bar or possess an adequate Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) score for admission.



• Proficiency in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, with strong capabilities in responding to discovery requests.



• Clerkship experience is considered a valuable asset for this role.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Connecticut.

Skills

• Strong advocacy skills for mediations, arbitrations, trials, and hearings.



• Excellent attention to detail, prioritization, and effective communication abilities.
