Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Construction Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its growing practice in Woodbury, New York. This role offers extensive, hands-on litigation experience with meaningful responsibility from the outset. The ideal candidate will handle complex construction disputes, manage all phases of litigation, and provide comprehensive legal services to industry stakeholders including owners, contractors, and design professionals.

• Duties
• Prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs, including summary judgment motions in state and federal courts throughout New York.
• Take and defend depositions, and oversee written discovery processes.
• Conduct legal research related to case issues and assess client-provided information and documents.
• Attend, defend, and/or prosecute trials, hearings, and other court proceedings.
• Assist with contract review, preparation, and negotiation for various construction projects.

• Requirements
• One or more years of commercial litigation experience with a focus on construction disputes.
• Experience in construction contract issues, review, and negotiation.
• Admittance to practice in New York State.
• Superior academic credentials and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously with attention to detail.

• Education
• JD degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.

• Certifications
• Active license to practice law in New York.

• Skills
• Proficiency in handling claims for payment, extra work, delay, liens, and bond claims.
• Experience with breach of contract, delay, and mechanic's lien claims.
• Strong advocacy skills and ability to take ownership of matters.
• Knowledge of public contracting integrity, compliance, and diversity/DMWBE regulations.
