Job Overview

Duties

• Counsel clients on privacy compliance within transactional contexts, including mergers, acquisitions, financings, and technology deals.



• Draft privacy and security policies, negotiate data processing agreements, and manage privacy components of corporate transactions.



• Translate developments in federal, state, and international privacy laws into practical legal guidance for clients.



• Collaborate with partners to develop data governance strategies and lead incident response and risk assessment efforts.

Requirements

• Bar admission in good standing in Florida, Ohio, Minnesota, North Carolina, or South Carolina.



• Minimum of four years of relevant legal experience in data privacy and cybersecurity.



• Proven experience counseling clients on privacy compliance in transactional work, including M&A and capital markets.



• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive matters forward with minimal supervision.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar license in one of the specified states.

Skills

• Strong understanding of federal privacy laws (e.g., TCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, FTC Act) and state laws (e.g., CCPA).



• Familiarity with international privacy regimes, including GDPR.



• Experience with AI governance frameworks and emerging AI regulations is highly valued.



• Excellent drafting, negotiation, verbal, and interpersonal skills.



• Aptitude for technology and understanding of online technologies and data flows.
