Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced litigator to build and lead its estate and trust litigation practice in Portland, Oregon. The ideal candidate will manage contested probate, will and trust contests, fiduciary breaches, and elder financial abuse cases from start to finish. This role offers significant autonomy to shape the practice while providing robust support from a team of eight attorneys.

Duties

• Manage all aspects of estate and trust litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motions, negotiation, and trial.


• Handle contested probate, will and trust contests, fiduciary breach claims, undue influence, capacity disputes, and elder financial abuse matters.


• Develop and execute case strategies while maintaining steady communication with clients navigating complex family dynamics.


• Collaborate with colleagues to refine legal theories and strategies for complex matters.

Requirements

• Substantial courtroom experience, including depositions, motions, hearings, and trials.


• Proven ability to run cases independently while maintaining client relationships and managing caseloads effectively.


• Strong interpersonal skills with the patience and steadiness to guide clients through emotionally charged family disputes.


• Background in contested litigation such as personal injury, commercial litigation, or family law is preferred; specific estate and trust experience is not required.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active license to practice law in the state of Oregon.

• Strong organizational skills to manage matters from inception through resolution.
