Job Overview

A law firm seeks a New York Barred Litigation Attorney to join their team in New York, NY. This remote position offers the opportunity to represent clients in diverse civil litigation matters, including professional liability and labor law. The firm provides a collaborative environment with mentorship from experienced partners, combining the resources of a large firm with the personal touch of a mid-size practice. Associates will gain hands-on experience from day one, handling cases from initiation through discovery and settlement.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including initiating claims, managing discovery, and attending court appearances, hearings, and depositions.



• Draft complex legal documents such as discovery requests, motions, pleadings, legal memoranda, settlement agreements, and affidavits.



• Conduct thorough legal research and investigation, review discovery responses, and prepare case evaluation summaries and litigation update reports.



• Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims and communicate closely with clients to provide legal analysis, status updates, and strategic advice.

Requirements

• Must be admitted to the New York Bar with a strong familiarity with New York law and civil procedure.



• Previous experience in civil litigation is required, with a preference for candidates experienced in professional liability or labor and employment matters.



• Proven ability to draft discovery, lead depositions, and argue motions effectively.



• Excellent written and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New York.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).



• Proficiency in LexisNexis legal research software.



• Strong analytical, negotiation, and client communication skills.
