Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in Florham Park, New Jersey. This hybrid role supports the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios for diverse clients across various industries.

Duties

• Draft complex patent applications, with a focus on computer arts including software, AI/ML, FinTech, and telecommunications.


• Prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.


• Collaborate directly with clients to address complex intellectual property issues.


 

Requirements

• 2-4 years of focused experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.


• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is required.


• Proven experience drafting complex software patent applications.


 

Education

• Degree in computer engineering or computer science is preferred.


• Advanced degrees in relevant technical fields are considered.


• Degrees in electrical engineering or other relevant technical backgrounds will also be considered.


 

Certifications

• Active registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.


 

Skills

• Strong analytical and written communication skills.


• Ability to work effectively with clients from diverse industries.
