The firm handles high-profile civil rights cases involving police brutality, wrongful convictions, and violations of rights for imprisoned individuals and those with disabilities. The role involves litigation in both federal and state courts, often under Section 1983 and the ADA.

Duties

• Manage a full caseload and collaborate with team attorneys.
• Conduct pre-suit investigations, discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
• Engage in settlement negotiations and trial proceedings.
• Work closely with clients, co-counsel, and staff across practice areas.
• Vet and investigate potential cases with the team.
• Ensure high-quality client service and develop litigation strategies.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, law clerks, and paralegals.
• Contribute to business development and uphold professional excellence.

Requirements

• Extensive deposition and trial experience, with first chair trial experience preferred.
• Federal civil litigation experience, with a preference for civil rights cases.
• Self-starter who thrives independently and in a team.
• Outstanding research and writing skills.
• Effective communication and creative litigation approach.
• Commitment to social justice and advocacy for impacted communities.

Education

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Bar of the State of Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois required.
