Job Overview:
A growing law firm is seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney to join its San Francisco office. The attorney will manage a criminal defense caseload, represent clients in state, federal, and local criminal matters, and handle all phases of litigation from pretrial proceedings through trial. The role offers significant courtroom experience and collaboration with an experienced criminal defense team.

Duties:

• Represent clients in criminal defense matters in state, federal, and local courts
• Advise clients regarding their legal rights and case strategy
• Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents
• Appear at pretrial hearings, court proceedings, and trials
• Conduct legal research and analyze applicable statutes and case law
• Interview clients, witnesses, and experts to develop case strategy
• Gather and evaluate evidence to support the client's defense
• Prepare clients for depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings
• Assess potential case outcomes and provide strategic legal advice
• Manage an active criminal defense caseload from intake through resolution
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff on litigation matters

Requirements:

• Experience handling complex criminal defense matters at the federal, state, and local levels
• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
• Strong courtroom advocacy and litigation skills
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Spanish fluency is preferred but not required

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar admission
