A law firm seeks an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join its growing practice in Southfield, MI. The firm provides top-tier legal representation to individuals facing criminal charges throughout metro Detroit and the state of Michigan. This role requires a licensed attorney with strong analytical skills and a commitment to excellent client advocacy.

Duties

• Meet and communicate regularly with clients to discuss case strategy and updates.



• Obtain, review, and analyze discovery materials to build a robust defense.



• Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft legal filings, including motions and briefs.



• Appear in court to advocate for clients during pretrial conferences, motion hearings, exams, trials, and sentencing.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney in criminal law, either in defense or prosecution.



• Demonstrated trial experience is required.



• Ability to work collaboratively with the team or independently under minimal supervision.



• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple cases effectively.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in the Michigan State Bar in good standing.

Skills

• Strong legal research skills with the ability to analyze complex cases effectively.



• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for persuasive argumentation and client interaction.
