A law firm seeks an entry-level healthcare associate attorney for its Evanston, Illinois office. This boutique firm specializes in business, regulatory, and transactional healthcare law, representing small to mid-sized practices. The role offers a supportive, entrepreneurial environment with mentorship from senior attorneys, focusing on compliance, contract drafting, and practice formation without billable hour requirements.

Duties

• Provide legal support to medical professionals and healthcare practices on licensure, scope of practice, regulatory compliance, and daily business operations.
• Support new practice formation, including entity formation, intake documentation, and related startup matters.
• Draft and review employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, physician collaborative agreements, and management services agreements in compliance with healthcare laws.
• Prepare clients' HIPAA policies and procedures and advise on HIPAA compliance.
• Advise clients on the Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Stark Law, and related state laws with senior attorney support.

Requirements

• Active law license in Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, or New York, or pending bar exam results in one of these states.
• Reside in Illinois within commuting distance of the Evanston office.
• Zero to two years of post-bar experience preferred.
• Professional or educational experience in the preparation and negotiation of contracts.
• Professional or educational experience in regulatory and transactional work, excluding litigation.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, or New York (or pending results).

Skills

• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurate, client-ready work on deadline.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate challenging topics clearly to clients and colleagues.
• Comfortable communicating with prospective and current clients via phone and video.
• Healthcare or business law experience is preferred but not required.
