A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney in Los Angeles, CA. The firm is dedicated to providing high-quality legal advocacy and compassionate representation for immigrant communities. The successful candidate will join a team committed to thoughtful litigation strategies.

Duties

• Handle Master Calendar and Individual (Merits) Hearings.
• Collaborate with paralegals and support staff.
• Craft and litigate motions to reopen, reconsider, terminate, and other post-order relief.
• Prepare and file appeals and briefs before the BIA.
• Conduct legal research and draft persuasive legal memoranda.
• Analyze FOIA responses and develop litigation strategies.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings.
• Appear at USCIS interviews when required.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with a U.S. state bar (California preferred).
• Minimum 2-3 years of removal defense experience required and general immigration experience.
• Strong motion and appellate writing skills.
• Spanish fluency (spoken and written) required to serve Spanish-speaking clientele.
• Able to work independently.
• Able to travel on an occasional basis.
• Able to be in-person at the office in Los Angeles, CA.

Preferred Experience

• Mandamus actions in federal district court.
• Habeas corpus petitions.
• Post-conviction relief in criminal court.
• Prior federal litigation or government experience.
• Probate/Family court for predicate SIJS orders.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license and good standing with a U.S. state bar.

Skills

• Strong motion and appellate writing skills.
• Spanish fluency (spoken and written).
• Ability to work independently.
