Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate with 3-6 years of experience to join its Consumer Law, Finance & Class Action Practice Group in Austin, TX. The role involves handling sophisticated consumer product safety, regulatory enforcement, and litigation matters, with a particular focus on U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) proceedings.

Duties

• Advise and represent manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers on consumer product safety and regulatory compliance issues.



• Manage CPSC investigations, enforcement proceedings, product recalls, remediation matters, and regulatory reporting obligations.



• Handle product liability, class action, and complex consumer-related litigation, including researching and drafting pleadings and motions.



• Manage written and document discovery, prepare for and participate in depositions, and assist with hearings and trials.



• Advise clients on government investigations, regulatory compliance, and remediation strategies in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Requirements

• Meaningful experience with consumer product safety, consumer protection, regulatory enforcement, or complex litigation matters.



• Experience gained in private practice, government service, or a combination of both is required.



• Ability to manage multiple workstreams with sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.



• Must be an active member in good standing of the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where admitted to practice.

Education

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

• Active membership in good standing in the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where admitted to practice.



• Timely admission to the Bar of the jurisdiction in which the hiring office is located is required as a condition of employment.

Skills

• Experience with the CPSC, the Consumer Product Safety Act, or other federal or state consumer protection laws and regulatory agencies is strongly preferred.



• Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.



• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.
