A law firm seeks a Data Privacy & Transactional Attorney to join its team in Columbus, OH. This role focuses on helping clients manage risks associated with sensitive data collection and use while providing comprehensive cybersecurity legal services. The position involves handling complex compliance and transactional matters for leading clients across various industries.

Duties

• Counsel clients on privacy compliance aspects of transactional work, including mergers, acquisitions, financings, and technology deals.



• Draft privacy and security policies, negotiate privacy-related contracts, and prepare data processing agreements.



• Manage all privacy and security components of corporate transactions, including due diligence for M&A and IPOs.



• Translate changes in federal, state, and international privacy laws into practical guidance for clients.



• Collaborate with partners to develop data governance strategies and lead incident response and risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bar admission in good standing in Florida, Ohio, Minnesota, North Carolina, or South Carolina.



• Minimum of four years of relevant legal experience in data privacy with a clear trajectory for advancement.



• Experience counseling clients on privacy compliance in transactional contexts, including M&A and technology transactions.



• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Education

• Law degree from an accredited institution with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

• Active bar license in one of the specified states.

Skills

• Excellent drafting, negotiation, verbal, and interpersonal skills.



• Solid understanding of federal privacy laws (e.g., TCPA, GLBA, FCRA) and international regimes (e.g., GDPR).



• Aptitude for technology and understanding of online technologies, data flows, and AI governance frameworks.



• Ability to advise on AI-related contract provisions and emerging AI regulations.
