Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced associate to join its dynamic Intellectual Property and Technology practice in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will collaborate with partners across the U.S. on complex IP matters, assuming significant responsibility for client interaction and case management within a supportive, multi-office team environment.

Duties

• Litigate patent, trade secret, false advertising, and unfair competition cases in federal courts and before the USITC.



• Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, appellate briefs, and correspondence with opposing counsel.



• Manage discovery processes, including document review, written discovery, and the taking and defending of depositions.



• Prepare for and assist with jury and bench trials, administrative hearings, and motion arguments in state and federal courts.



• Conduct and manage proceedings before the PTAB and ITC, including legal research and writing.



• Develop dispute settlement strategies, including mediation and other alternative dispute resolution methods.



• Collaborate with experts to prepare reports and provide strategic advice on how IP issues impact business decisions.

Requirements

• 4-7 years of litigation experience is required.



• Strong academic credentials are required.



• Experience in patent and ITC litigation is essential.



• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of hire and in good standing.



• Washington, DC candidates may also be licensed in any US state or territory if eligible to waive into the DC Bar.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Patent Bar registration is preferred.
