A law firm seeks an experienced attorney specializing in environmental law to join their team in Ithaca, NY. The role involves advising on federal and state environmental regulations and managing complex real estate transactions. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Duties

• Advise clients on environmental regulations, including CERCLA, CAA, RCRA, ECL, SEQRA, and NAV.
• Represent clients in permitting, compliance, and regulatory matters.
• Structure and negotiate commercial real estate transactions.
• Lead environmental due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
• Draft and negotiate environmental provisions in agreements.
• Manage permitting processes for energy and infrastructure projects.
• Advise on remediation strategies for contaminated properties.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate environmental risks.
• Review and assess environmental site assessments and reports.
• Counsel on ESA compliance and land use issues.
• Provide guidance on NYC Local Law 97 and energy transition matters.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar; Connecticut or Massachusetts admission is a plus.
• Extensive experience in environmental permitting and compliance.
• Experience with energy, infrastructure, and large-scale projects.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of environmental risk allocation.
• Knowledge of NEPA, CERCLA, RCRA, ESA, and related frameworks.
• Experience drafting sophisticated environmental contracts.
• Ability to analyze technical environmental data.
• Familiarity with carbon markets and energy transition initiatives.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
