Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate with 3-6 years of experience to join its Consumer Law, Finance & Class Action Practice Group in Jacksonville, FL. The role involves handling sophisticated consumer product safety, regulatory enforcement, and litigation matters, with a particular focus on U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issues.

Duties

• Advise and represent manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers on consumer product safety and regulatory compliance.


• Manage CPSC investigations, enforcement proceedings, product recalls, and regulatory reporting obligations.


• Handle product liability, class action, and complex consumer-related litigation matters.


• Research and draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses; prepare for and participate in depositions.


• Assist with hearings, trials, and the development of remediation strategies for government investigations.


 

Requirements

• Meaningful experience in consumer product safety, consumer protection, regulatory enforcement, or complex litigation.


• Experience gained in private practice, government service, or a combination of both is valued.


• Ability to manage multiple workstreams with sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.


• Must be an active member in good standing of the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where admitted to practice.


 

Education

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.


 

Certifications

• Active membership in the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where admitted to practice.


• Timely admission to the Bar of the jurisdiction in which the hiring office is located is required as a condition of employment.


 

Skills

• Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.


• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.


• Experience with the CPSC, the Consumer Product Safety Act, or other federal/state consumer protection laws is strongly preferred.


• Ability to work collaboratively in a client-focused environment.
