Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Libertyville, Illinois, to join their family law practice. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced attorney, gaining hands-on experience in family law litigation and client interaction.

Duties

• Work directly with the firm's principal attorney on divorce and family law matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and assist in developing case strategy.
• Communicate with clients and opposing counsel.
• Prepare financial affidavits and discovery responses.
• Prepare for and attend court appearances, hearings, conferences, and other proceedings.
• Learn how to manage a family law case from beginning to end.
• Gradually assume greater responsibility and independently manage matters as experience develops.
• Assist principal attorney in court, including trial preparation and depositions.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Illinois law license or anticipated Illinois admission.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Good judgment and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• A professional and respectful approach to clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and take on increasing responsibility.
• Experience with legal practice-management software is a plus.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Illinois law license or anticipated Illinois admission.
