A law firm seeks an attorney to join its Reno, NV office. The firm handles a diverse range of cases, including civil litigation, criminal defense, and appellate work. Duties

• Manage an individual caseload with support from attorneys and staff.
• Communicate directly with clients and participate in case strategy.
• Draft substantive motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery.
• Take and defend depositions when appropriate.
• Appear in Nevada state courts.
• Handle negotiations and dispute-resolution proceedings.
• Prepare cases for trial and appeal.
• Collaborate with other attorneys.
• Cover hearings or other work for colleagues when necessary.

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the Nevada Bar, or eligible for admission.
• Ability to navigate cases from start to finish in their field of expertise.
• Strong writing skills and sound judgment.
• Effective communication with clients, staff, opposing counsel, and courts.
• Organized and capable of taking ownership of files.
• Willingness to learn unfamiliar areas of law when necessary.
• Ability to act independently and seek input when needed.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Nevada Bar or eligibility for admission.

Skills

• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency in case management and legal software.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
