Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Business Attorney in Lexington, KY, to build out its business planning practice. This remote role supports entrepreneurs and business owners by structuring, protecting, and transitioning businesses in coordination with broader estate plans. The firm partners with financial advisors to deliver sophisticated, client-focused legal services across all 50 states.

Duties

• Conduct virtual client meetings to gather information, clarify goals, and present tailored business planning strategies.



• Draft and review business formation documents, including LLC and corporate formations, operating agreements, and bylaws.



• Advise on business succession and exit planning, including buy-sell agreements and ownership transition strategies.



• Coordinate business planning with clients' estate plans, focusing on entity structuring, asset protection, and intergenerational transfer.



• Lead client and advisor meetings with professionalism, clarity, and confidence while collaborating with internal teams and of-counsel networks.



• Stay current on business, tax, and succession planning laws at the federal and state levels.



• Advise clients on entity selection, ownership structuring, and business asset titling.



• Build and maintain strong relationships with financial advisors and their leadership teams.



• Respond to client and advisor inquiries promptly and professionally.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.



• Licensed to practice law and in good standing with at least one state bar.



• 3+ years of experience in business law, entity formation, and/or succession planning.



• Strong knowledge of business entity structuring and succession planning; experience integrating business and estate planning is a plus.



• Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to explain complex business and legal concepts clearly.



• Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, drafting, and writing skills.



• Comfort working in a technology-enabled legal practice.



• A genuine commitment to exceptional client service.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in at least one state.
