College Lecturer II - Political Science & Paralegal Studies

Duties: Provides instructional and administrative services including: teaching course work in political science and paralegal studies; conducting classroom observations; evaluating faculty and adjunct faculty instructional performance impacting future employment decisions; participating in searches for new faculty and adjuncts and recommending hires. Conducts academic assessments for developing or improving new or existing programs, and eliminating obsolete offerings. Teaches 36 credit hours of classes annually: 15 credit hours each fall and spring and 6 credit hours during the summer sessions. Conducts classroom observations and evaluates faculty for future employment decisions (reappointments, promotions, sabbaticals, hiring, terminating and part-time contract renewals). Conducts academic assessments for developing or improving new or existing programs and eliminating obsolete programs or courses. Contributes to student success by being actively engaged in strategic planning; the accreditation process, orientation, student advising, commencement, and a variety of committees, clubs, events, college and community liaison initiatives. Develops, establishes and oversees a Governmental Affairs Institute, designed to provide community services such as: public opinion polling on local, state and national governmental issues; workshops related to public affairs and policy, and ongoing lecture/discussion series on topics related to government affairs and public policy. Attends Ocean County Mayors Association meetings. Related projects and duties as assigned. Organizational Impact and Authority: Interacts with college administrators, faculty, adjunct faculty, students, parents and outside contacts.
