Research Physicist 3
Envision and invent new superconducting technologies for advanced computing. Design superconducting circuits for logic related to RSFQ or similar class. Design experiments to confirm simulations. Design quantum-mechanics based devices, including qubits. Guide fabrication and material development of superconducting tunnel junctions and related devices. Perform low-temperature experiments using dilution refrigerator and associated electronics. Develop new superconducting technologies, e.g. memory. Programs include advanced superconducting and advanced computing activities, carbon nano-tubes, and quantum mechanics-based sensor development, as well as other emerging or new technologies.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Must have Ph.D. (or will complete by September 2013) and experience in one or more of the following: superconducting tunnel junction fabrication/characterization, transport phenomena, solid-state qubit operation, microwave engineering, low-temperature experiments, and quantum mechanics. Minimum of 5 years experience in quantum mechanics and/or super conducting electronics. Must have demonstrated innovation leading to significant advancement of technology. Experience with superconducting circuit design, low-temperature experimental physics, and measurement of superconducting circuits required. Must be able to obtain required security clearance levels through Top Secret with SCI.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with decoherence mechanisms , physics based simulation, analog and digital electronics, computer simulations, dilution refrigerator operation desired. Experience with RSFQ, memory, Cadence, mask layout, multilevel circuit design, design verification and superconducting fabrication desired.
