Research Librarian/Assistant Professor
The candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment. Will be part of a team of lawyer-librarians who support student learning and faculty scholarship and who otherwise contribute to the mission of the Law School in a variety of ways. Work closely with individual faculty members on scholarly research and interact with law students, undergraduate and graduate students, and members of the public. Members of the law library faculty are expected to engage in substantive research, participate in instructional and outreach activities, provide reference assistance to students and other visitors, and contribute to the many activities undertaken at the Law School. Research Librarians are supported in their work by law student research assistants employed by the Law Library. Over time and as interests and needs are assessed, librarians take responsibility for particular aspects of Library services. We encourage initiative and innovation among Library faculty and staff; we encourage independence in developing projects; and we expect professionals to contribute to the mission of the Law School and the Law Library on a variety of levels. Requires a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and a master’s degree in library or information science from a regionally accredited college or university; however, applicants who (i) have a JD degree and will complete the masters degree within a reasonable period of time, or (ii) are enrolled in joint degree programs and who will complete the degrees within six months from the date of hire, will also be considered.
