Associate General Counsel – Affiliations and Healthcare
Duties: Serve as the primary attorney for Family Health Centers legal requirements, including legal review and legal advice for all affiliation arrangements and contracts and grants. Serve as the primary attorney for the Dental Residency Program, including review, drafting and negotiation as necessary all affiliation and site contracts, residents contracts and related issues; maintain knowledge of accreditation and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement issues related to the Dental Residency program; coordinate as necessary with Human Resources. Provide legal advice concerning patients rights, access to care, medical record confidentiality and consent to medical treatment, for Hospitals Center and School of Medicine administrators, at the main campus as well as at the campus. Develop and/or update a template library of contracts and contract provisions for affiliations, contracts for services and sub-grants by the Family Health Center and the Dental Residency Program. Develop training materials and provide training to the Family Health Centers and the Dental Residency Program administrators in general contracts principles and in the use of the templates, including creating checklists to assist the administrators in reviewing and responding to third party paper. Coordinate process, principles and practices with the attorneys in the Office of Legal Counsel. Use electronic contracting tools (Selectica) in developing electronic work-flow for contracts, and archive contracts in the enterprise-wide contracts system. Maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations and case decisions that bear on hospital and healthcare law and contracting in the health care and biomedical research contexts. Perform other related duties as assigned.
