Seeking a Staff Attorney to work for Child Protection Program and provide representation to parents in the child protections system in Ramsey County and within the state of Minnesota. Will provide direct supervision to student attorneys handling cases in Juvenile Court; work closely with parent mentors, contract social workers, and social work interns to provide holistic legal services to clients; assist with policy work, research, and impact litigation both within and outside of the state of Minnesota; assist Program Director in teaching; and be responsible for file management and grading.
Candidate should have active attorney license and 3-5 years of legal experience in the child protection system or parent representation. Should have demonstrated ability to conduct academic research and writing; and familiarity with child protection system, rules, statues, stakeholders, and decision making bodies. Connection with the child protection community, including the judiciary, state Department of Human Services, and other child protection stakeholders is preferred.
