University Staff Counsel

Duties: Reports directly to the Vice President and General Counsel with day-to-day direction from the Senior University Counsel at SLAC. Provide legal counsel to SLAC management in managing the Stanford/DOE prime contract and ensuring compliance with its contract terms. Provides legal advice, counsel, and guidance regarding the following matters: federal government contracts law; procurement and business law in compliance with a government-approved procurement system; management of government-owned facilities and equipment/personal property; compliance with DOE-specific health and safety requirements; environmental remediation and restoration activities; export control compliance; compliance with federal and state environmental laws and regulations; personal injury/property damage and other tort claims; employment law; intellectual property and technology transfer activities; and other areas of law as necessary. Requires discretion, flexibility, and the ability to understand and manage projects with competing interests in a constantly changing, cutting edge environment.
