Embedded Software Engineer
Summary
The Applied BioSystems site at Life Technologies is in need of a productive and enthusiastic software engineer for development and testing. The position will be part of a dedicated team of scientists and engineers working on Life Technologies’ Ion Torrent sequencing platform, responsible for developing instrument control software supporting Ion Torrent sequencing instrument and sample preparation instrument. This full-time position is based in our Foster City office.
Key Responsibilities
* Function as software engineer for development of our instrument control software and software components * Document and review documentation of our software products * Participate in software design reviews and code reviews * Develop test plan and test cases * Perform software tests, including black box testing on instruments as well as white box testing and engineering testing for software components
Requirements
• MUST: 3 years of experience with commercial software development in C .
Knowledge of Python. 3 years of experience with instrument control software and embedded software.
Understanding of firmware preferred.
• MUST: Solid experience with Unix/Linux programming.
• MUST: must be a self-starter, have a can-do attitude and excited about learning new things, fit into a fast paced environment.
• Understand SW development processes/life cycle and SW Architecture.
• Working skills in software test methodology and tool sets.
• Excellent skills in software configuration management. Capable of setting up unit test framework, build process.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable working in life science domain, have basic understanding of life science principle.
• Experience with defect tracking tools, source control tools and document tracking tools.
• Understanding of basic math/statistics algorithms concepts.
• Experience with software development under regulatory environment for clinical diagnostic products is a plus.
