Director of Development, Law School

Duties: Charged with major gift fundraising duties for the School. Develops a comprehensive fundraising program for private support from faculty, staff, alumni, friends of SOL, other individuals, corporations, and foundations to solicit donors at all levels to SOL, but with particular emphasis on major gifts. Development for the School of Law (SOL) is charged with major gift fundraising duties for the School. With the Dean of SOL, the director develops a comprehensive fundraising program for private support from faculty, staff, alumni, friends of SOL, other individuals, corporations, and foundations to solicit donors at all levels to SOL, but with particular emphasis on major gifts. Develops strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors for all approved fundraising priorities at SOL and other areas at USD. Will report operationally to the Dean of SOL, while reporting administratively to the Associate Vice President of Development in University Relations. Will be accountable to the associate vice president of development for all major gift fundraising strategies and compliance with the university’s prospect management system. Will provide the director with guidance on day-to-day fundraising priorities and activities. Annual performance reviews will be conducted jointly. Directs the work of the SOL External Relations executive assistant, event coordinator and various work-study students or volunteers on assigned projects.
