Corporate Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for: Develop, assess, draft, negotiate and manage corporate contracts for company in many areas, including without limitation vendor and client contracts. Implement and manage contract form bank. Protect company’ rights in contract negotiations and settlements. Ensure consistency of contract terms with company policies and goals. Review contracts from company’s partners, suppliers, customers and parties. Negotiate and review contracts and reduce the organization’s contract risk. Assess best practices to enhance contracts review processes. Offer legal advice on law of organization operations and contracts. Propose alternative courses of action to advance company interests. Monitor and review operations to ensure compliance with established organization policies and legal requirements. Identify operational risks and develop legally sound best practices. Coordinate cross functionally to learn about client needs and key areas of focus. Must have Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and membership, in good standing, with Illinois Bar. Should have 3+ years' experience as a practicing attorney, and preferably 5+ years’ experience. Must have understanding and expertise in compliance and privacy laws. Should have strong analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise discretion. Must have experience working with and managing contracts. Should have experience drafting and reviewing corporate-related agreements. Payments industry experience preferred.
