The candidate will serves as a member of the Office of General Counsel, the in-house office that provides legal support and guidance to the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., College Park. Advises and supports University clients, including the President’s staff, Vice Presidents, Deans, Department unit heads, faculty, and staff. Works on a broad range of matters including employment, civil rights, student affairs, transactional, policy, litigation support and other matters for academic and operational units as assigned by the Vice President and General Counsel (“VP-GC”). Assists clients to respond to concerns in employment, academic, and residential environments; represents clients in internal administrative proceedings and statutory grievance hearings, advises clients on strategy, drafts policies and procedures; and supports regulatory compliance in a variety of contexts. Develops a working knowledge of the wide range of legal, academic and operational issues relevant to the operations of a research-intensive public university, and must develop new subject matter expertise as client needs dictate.
