Business Officer - Journey

Duties: Reviewing and executing sponsored research proposals and agreements with private industry, including nondisclosure agreements, sponsored research agreements, clinical trial agreements and subcontracts, among others. Its mission will focus on streamlining support for industry-funded sponsored projects, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations and helping make Carolina a better partner to industry. Facilitate the initiation of clinical trials at UNC with an emphasis on providing the highest level of customer service to campus and sponsors, taking into account all applicable federal and state law, regulations, and University guidelines and policies. Functions under the direction of the Director of the Office of Clinical Trials. Review and negotiation of complex legal contracts for clinical research funding received by the University from federal sponsors as well as private for-profit and not-for profit sponsors, including business, industry, associations, and foundations in order to initiate clinical trials research. Consult with faculty Investigators and staff regarding the nature of each clinical trial and the impact of unique aspects of trials on the legal language contained in the language of the agreement, representing the best interests of the University and the Investigator. Keep abreast of new developments in research administration policies and requirements in order to serve as an up-to-date source of information, guidance, and training for the campus and research community.
