Profile

Global Support Services, LLC is currently an Enterprise Data Architect to maintain systems at Ft Rucker, AL a military installation.
SUMMARY
The role of the Enterprise Data Architect is to expand the U.S. Army’s use of data as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives. The Enterprise Data Architect will achieve this by strategically designing, developing, and implementing data models for enterprise-level applications and systems. These models shall be architected at the following layers: conceptual, logical, business area, and application. This individual will act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies and data processing best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Planning
Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
Create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall data management roadmap.
Establish processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of corporate metadata; take steps to assure metadata accuracy and validity.
Establish methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement.
Conduct data capacity planning, life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
Create strategies and plans for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving.
Ensure that data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.
Acquisition & Deployment
Ensure the success of enterprise-level application rollouts
Liaise with vendors and service providers to select the products or services that best meet client’s goals.
Operational Management
Assess and determine governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization.
Develop and promote data management methodologies and standards.
Select and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals.
Oversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality.
Collaborate with project managers and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data.
Address data-related problems in regards to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integration.
Act as a leader and advocate of data management, including coaching, training, and career development to staff.
Develop and implement key components as needed to create testing criteria in order to guarantee the fidelity and performance of data architecture.
Document the data architecture and environment in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture.
Identify and develop opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement

Job Requirements :
Required:
Bachelor*s Degree required
15 years experience
Must have hands-on knowledge of SOA implementations and SOA architectures.
Hands on data architecture and data administration practices and disciplines.
Broad perspective of business and technology
Maintains strong architectural expertise and knowledge of current and emerging technologies and products, and evaluates for both general and specific usage
Identify trends and patterns from a large amount of business and IS information, and demonstrate a broad perspective of the enterprise (the big picture)
Advise all areas of the enterprise on architecture concepts and principles
Must have hands-on knowledge SOA implementations and SOA architectures.
Articulates an IS perspective of key business strategy components
Develops and socializes strategic architecture strategies, standards and guidelines
Interacts directly with Client’s functional leaders to shape application and technology direction for defined business process (application) and technology domains (e.g. Management, Security, Infrastructure)
Influence Client’s functional leaders towards strategic architecture strategies, standards and guidelines
Interacts directly with SMEs and practitioners to identify architecture challenges and opportunities and resolves architecture issues related to applications, programs and technology
Develops and documents current and target state architecture diagrams and mappings
Develops application portfolio and technology strategies, standards and roadmaps
Develop architecture training programs for development teams
Provides enterprise architecture oversight of application and technology projects and programs
Provides architectural guidance and mentoring to multiple development teams
Develops macro (high-level) application and technology design architecture for application portfolios and major program initiatives
Identifies and articulates consistency and reuse opportunities
Ensures alignment and compliance of detailed application and technical designs with architecture strategies, standards and guidelines
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
15 years work experience as a data or information architect.
Hands-on experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
Direct experience in implementing enterprise data management processes, procedures, and decision support.
Strong understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Strong familiarity with metadata management and associated processes.
Hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools.
Demonstrated expertise with repository creation, and data and information system life cycle methodologies.
Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, reporting structures, and so on.
Ability to manage data and metadata migration.
Experience with major database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
Understanding of Web services (SOAP, XML, UDDI, WSDL).
Must have hands-on knowledge SOA implementations and SOA architectures.
Develops and socializes strategic architecture strategies, standards and guidelines
Object oriented programming experience (e.g. using .NET).
Excellent client/user interaction skills to determine requirements.
Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
Proven project management experience.
Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Must be able to Lead
As a member of the Enterprise Architecture group with a specific focus on Enterprise SOA. Establish Reference architectures, Integration patterns, Tech Specs, Blueprints, Play Books, Best Practices, Design patterns, Standards, etc. Provide detailed assessment of project to feed the established (governance) process. Act as consulting and advisory to service projects. Establish the Strategic vision for Enterprise Services. Maintain the do-the-right-thing-for-the-enterprise perspective. This role is responsible for establishing the Strategic vision for Enterprise Services.A successful candidate will possess the highest level of proficiency in key data architecture and data administration practices and disciplines. Is expert and leads others in logical and physical data modeling using standards and tools. This role assumes a leadership role for other Data Analysts and Architects, Business Analysts and Developers in specific data and database design activities. This role is a thought leader on developing and implementing data management standards, procedures and policies. Has in-depth knowledge of data warehousing and operational systems database design in multiple business domains. Works closely with and complements ETL developers in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence projects. This role partners with database administrators in all aspects of physical database design and implementation. Leads source data analysis activities.
