Trinity Youth Pastor
MINISTRY SUMMARY:
The overall objective of the Youth Pastor is to make Christ-like disciples of youth and to train and mobilize them to make Christ-like disciples. He will lead and oversee the 6th grade through 12th grade Trinity youth ministry by implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Youth Pastor shall:
Have a clear testimony to a saving, sanctifying and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Model a Christ-like lifestyle and a passion to reach the lost for Jesus Christ.
Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and a devotion to a personal prayer life.
Demonstrate a willingness and ability to work as a team player, cooperating and collaborating with Trinity staff and church leadership, always striving to maintain unity within the body of Christ.
Be willing to become a member and commit to the vision and mission of Trinity Church.
Teach in accordance with the Trinity Statement of Faith and adhere to the Trinity Constitution and By-Laws.
Exhibit a proven ability to teach and train youth in biblical understanding and application.
Demonstrate giftedness and calling to youth ministry and have a passion for evangelism and outreach.
Possess a heart to see youth involved in cross-cultural ministries and develop opportunities for them to serve in a missionary context.
Be a self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for youth ministry.
Possess effective speaking and listening communication skills.
Demonstrate a heart for the community by being active in community outreach to reach un-churched youth.
Demonstrate capable administrative and organizational skills.
Demonstrate the ability to manage and resolve conflict directly, openly, honestly and graciously.
Seek opportunities for spiritual and professional growth.
Be committed to relationships that encourage and ensure personal and professional accountability.
2-plus years of ministry experience is preferred
College degree is preferred
MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Youth Pastor:
Reports to the Trinity Senior Pastor.
Is accountable to the Trinity Senior Pastor and Trinity elders
Works in ministry in conjunction with the Trinity elders, Director of Children’s Ministry, and the Trinity staff.
Fulfills the ministry commitment as a full-time pastor, minimally equating to 40 hours per week of youth and associated ministry while striving for a sensible work-life balance.
The Youth Pastor core activities are to:
Recruit and develop adult leaders to assist in the fulfilling of the work and responsibilities of the youth ministry at Trinity Church.
Adequately plan and prepare for all youth ministry events and activities so that each event will seek to accomplish desired goals and fulfill the mission statement of Trinity Church.
Design/select the youth ministry teaching curriculum in cooperation with the Senior Pastor and the Shepherding Elder for youth ministry.
Collaborate with the church’s staff to accomplish the vision and mission of the church.
Make and maintain positive relationships with leaders in the community (e.g., leaders of our schools and other youth organizations).
Establish strong relationships with the youth of our church, maximizing ministry impact in their lives.
Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis.
Maintain relational contact with students and parents, keeping them apprised of activities and seeking specific prayer opportunities.
Keep parents apprised of ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
Prepare, monitor and manage the annual youth ministry budget.
Participate in Trinity staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Senior Pastor, and other meetings necessary to lead an effective youth ministry.
Ensure ministry coverage when absent due to sickness or vacation.
Assist the Senior Pastor in areas of Trinity ministry, as necessary.
