Job Title: Legal Billing Manager
Job Summary:
The Legal Billing Manager will oversee the billing process for the firm, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of invoices and payments. They will be responsible for managing a team of billing specialists, setting performance goals and metrics, and implementing best practices for billing administration. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills and a background in legal billing or financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement billing and collections policies and procedures.
• Manage a team of billing specialists, identifying training needs and setting clear performance metrics and goals.
• Review and approve invoices for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with attorneys and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate billing.
• Analyze billing data and identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern.
• Prepare and present billing reports and analysis to management.
• Oversee the collections process, working with clients to ensure prompt payment of outstanding balances.
• Maintain a detailed understanding of billing systems, software, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal billing management.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience managing a team, setting performance goals and metrics, and implementing best practices.
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance issues related to billing.
• Proficiency with billing software, such as Elite, 3E or Aderant, is preferred.
