General Counsel, University Lands
Candidate will provide expert and strategic legal advice for all matters regarding University. This includes a broad range of activities occurring or proposed such as mineral leasing, surface leasing, Oil and Gas production operations and ranching operations on 2.1 million acres managed by the University Lands office. Will work with the University's System Vice Chancellor and General Counsel to ensure effective governance of University Lands within the context of The University of Texas System. Draft leases and agreements which minimize risk and maximize legal rights for University Lands. Analyze legislative proposals regarding impact to operations on University Lands. Work with business team of University Lands to develop structure and agreements that help to protect and steward the lands over the long term. Manage surface rights related both to oil and gas and other areas.
