This brand-new position will support our growth into news-focused content and real-time market coverage. In practice, this means the Assistant News Editor will have great autonomy to find articles, work with writers, and develop great content for a retail investing audience. You'll find a great story, get it written, edit it, and publish it all on your own.
Candidates will be editors with not only a sharp eye for grammar and style, but an understanding of SEO. An interesting in marrying these skills with the world of meme stocks, altcoins and breaking stock market news is a huge plus.
We are looking for someone eager to dive into a high-volume position, edit quickly and beat competitors to market. **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..com is a fast-growing site with 10mm monthly readers, and the Assistant News Editor will help us provide actionable advice to our retail investor audience.
After COVID-19, this position will be based in the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. office in Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
Independently edit 8-10 Today's Market articles a day, with each running at about 450 words. We expect you to work directly with writers to prioritize quality, timeliness, and SEO, making sure writers communicate what happened in the market and why it matters.
Collaborate frequently with freelancers and in-house writers to publish their best work possible.
Contribute to daily news conversations; the Assistant News Editor should have a robust news
diet and be able to speak to top market stories.
Drive broader Today's Market conversations around audience development and engagement,
social media, and news content.
Bring your specialized market knowledge to our readers by contributing your own articles on
topics of your choice.
Qualifications
At least three years of professional editing experience.
Demonstrable experience editing the written word.
Experience working with WordPress or similar Content Management System is a plus.
Strong interest in business and financial news.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to work in collaboration with a team as well as independently.
Experience with search engine optimization is required.
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Visual acuity for reading and using the computer
Ability to hear
Ability to freely move about the office
Ability to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate with others in order to exchange information
Fluency in the English language
