Duties: Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Research Administration, will work with institutional leaders to organize research administration into an integrated operation. Responsible for overseeing the management of approximately $700M in sponsored projects. Responsible for implementing a program across divisions and campuses for enhancing research and technology transfer opportunities; creating partnerships and collaborations with sponsors that are mutually beneficial; and working with faculty, staff and administration in developing effective and efficient policies, procedures, guidelines and training to ensure University-wide compliance with federal, state, local and sponsor laws and regulations. Under the direction of the AVPRA, will be accountable for effective and efficient service delivery by JHURA, including monitoring performance against established metrics, for the following duties: pre-award sponsored projects administration; budget and staff management; policy and procedure development; and training of faculty and staff across the university. Be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations, including direct or indirect supervision of staff , oversight of key functions including developing best practices, policies and procedures; advising and training staff in negotiations for grants, contracts, subcontracts and cooperative agreements; writing specialty agreements, such as nondisclosure and teaming agreements;; and serving in the capacity of the AVPRA when required. Implement and direct quality improvement initiatives for JHURA; ensure compliance with regulations and specific provisions for awards made by external institutions, corporations, and federal and state agencies; and serve as a liaison with a variety of agencies and professional groups to keep abreast of current developments. Look for opportunities to support the faculty to better manage their sponsored projects and ensure that effective on-going training programs are in place for all key positions and processes supporting research administration.
