BSDC Construction is seeking Full-time
and Part-time
Carpenters to perform tasks at private and commercial sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, pumps, power saws, pressure washers, fork lift, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
Review work orders, prints and/or sketches for the job.
Make sketches showing construction details for the job.
Estimate material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform job.
Set-up and operate wood working tools to cut, form and finish material for the job.
Set-up or dismantle structures, repairs or refinishes walls or structures.
Install wood or metal parts.
Installs glass or replaces broken glass as required.
Set-up or dismantle roofing or siding. Prepares irregular scaffolding which may be required.
Lubricate and maintain carpenter shop equipment.
Preform construction laborer work on private and commercial buildings.
Demolition existing walls and ceiling in commercial buildings.
Patch and repair concrete surfaces in preparation for floor coverings.
Haul demo materials to dumpster.
Unload materials and store efficiently onsite.
Maintain a clean safe jobsite.
Keep work areas supplied with materials and clear of construction debris.
Assist other craft workers.
NON - ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Other related duties as required.
Job Requirements :
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
Completion of formal apprenticeship program or completion of in-company, three-year training program. Injury exposure could be severe cuts and bruises; considerable physical effort of hands and arms required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have knowledge of acceptable construction site practices including occupational safety and health regulations.
Must have the ability to communicate both orally and writing with internal and external clients and co-workers.
Must have the ability to follow directions.
Must be able to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to complete each task assignment.
Must be comfortable with high intensity work environment.
Preferred:
Forklift Operator Certification.
Platform Lift Certification.
Current First Aid Certification.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; at times lift and carry as much at 45 pounds; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels. Injury exposure could be minor cuts and bruises; considerable physical effort of hands and arms required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions with high temperatures above 100 ( 100) degrees Fahrenheit and below 20 (-20) degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the work environment can punctuate with the sounds of heavy machinery/equipment..Work in overhead structures and around and beneath structures.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
Steel toed boots required.
Reliable transportation to/from work a necessity.
