Job Overview

A law firm seeks a talented Labor & Employment Associate with a minimum of three years of management-side experience to join its growing practice in Toledo, OH. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside a highly regarded team representing employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters, including counseling, litigation, and workplace investigations.

Duties

• Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, separation packages, executive compensation arrangements, restrictive covenants, and independent contractor agreements.



• Prepare and revise employee handbooks, workplace policies, and HR procedures to ensure compliance with evolving regulations.



• Counsel employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, NLRA, and wage and hour regulations.



• Advise clients regarding employee discipline, terminations, reductions in force, leave management, accommodations, and general employee relations issues.



• Assist with workplace investigations involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, and misconduct.



• Represent employers in state and federal court litigation, administrative agency proceedings, and arbitration matters involving discrimination, wrongful termination, and traditional labor disputes.



• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery requests and responses, briefs, and appellate filings while managing fact and expert discovery.



• Take and defend depositions, participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations, and manage caseloads efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of management-side labor and employment experience in a law firm or comparable legal environment.



• Experience with a combination of employment litigation and employment counseling matters.



• Strong client service orientation and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.



• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and business professionals.

Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

• Ohio Bar admission, active and in good standing, or the ability to waive into Ohio.

Skills

• Excellent legal research, writing, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.



• Ability to work closely with senior attorneys on case strategy and litigation management.



• Effective communication with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.
