A law firm seeks an experienced litigation associate in El Segundo, CA. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic defense practice, gaining meaningful litigation experience and direct client interaction. This role offers courtroom exposure and a clear path toward long-term career growth.

Duties

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare written advocacy.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
• Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys.
• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and litigation risk.
• Maintain accurate billing and case management records.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate.

Requirements

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience.
• Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage cases while working collaboratively within a team environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Experience in medical malpractice defense, dental malpractice defense, general liability, public entity defense, professional liability, or insurance defense litigation is highly preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
