Assures quality care through compliance with departmental policies, hospital and external agency guidelines.
Monitors pending for upcoming collections.  Collects all specimens in the time frame dictated by policy and returns them to the laboratory for analysis.
Maintains collection trays and work area in a sanitary condition. Maintains supplies in phlebotomy area. Reports any shortages to the Phlebotomist Lead Tech.  Checks expiration dates on supplies prior to using on patients.
Processes specimens using the pneumonic tube system for laboratory tech when requested.
Properly label all specimens at the patient bedside.  Complete all necessary paperwork.
Answers the telephone in a courteous and friendly manner.  Answers general questions and transfers calls to the appropriate departments when indicated.
Does filing, and faxes as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.','!*!POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  Education and Training Experience Required

Experience in phlebotomy techniques necessary.
Experience with a laboratory information system recommended.
Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program or Phlebotomy program may be substituted for experience.','Phlebotomist'
