Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Prosecution Associate for its Atlanta office. This mid- to senior-level role offers the opportunity to work with sophisticated clients across various industries on complex patent matters within an established and collaborative practice.

Duties

• Independently manage patent prosecution matters, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and responding to office actions.
• Provide patent counseling, preparation, and portfolio management services to companies with sophisticated intellectual property needs.
• Work directly with sophisticated corporate clients, exercising independent judgment and taking ownership of assignments.
• Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals across the firm to deliver high-quality client service.

Requirements

• Approximately five years of substantive patent prosecution experience, preferably in a law firm environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters efficiently while maintaining a strong commitment to client responsiveness.
• Experience working directly with sophisticated corporate clients and exercising professional judgment.

Education

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school required.

Certifications

• Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) required.
• Admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction required; Georgia bar admission is not necessarily required.
