Senior IP Counsel
The candidate will manage the firm's intellectual property portfolio: Identify developments for potential patent protection through regular communications with firm's scientists ; Evaluate scientific and novel aspects of those developments, patentability and commercial applications. Will align IP strategies with overall strategic goals of the firm's and support achievement of institutional goals. Manage the patenting process for inventions generated from multi-disciplinary research jointly owned by multiple firm's partner institutions, and effectively communicate with the tech transfer offices of firm's collaborating institutions. Serve as in-house counsel for IP matters, directing legal work and overseeing the selection and engagement of outside legal experts when needed. In partnership with the firm's transactions group, identify potential commercial licensees and partners, and support negotiations of license, option, sponsored research and collaboration agreements. Support alliance management efforts. Provide guidance and education for the firm's community regarding intellectual property matters, including advising and responding to community questions/issues regarding intellectual property.
