A law firm seeks an experienced Of Counsel attorney in Philadelphia, PA, to manage general liability and insurance defense cases. This role involves handling cases from initial pleadings through trial preparation, including discovery, depositions, motions, and mediations. The attorney will work closely with partners and clients to develop effective defense strategies and provide high-level legal insight and research.

Duties

• Represent clients in general liability and insurance defense cases, including premises liability and construction accidents, in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
• Independently manage cases from start to finish, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Supervise associates and staff members.
• Develop defense strategies with partners, clients, and experts.
• Conduct extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials.
• Manage deadlines and assignments with a high level of ownership and independence.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.

Requirements

• 10+ years' experience in general liability/insurance defense.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admitted in PA (other states a plus).
• Experience participating in negotiations and mediations.
• Superior analytical, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in PA (other states a plus).
