A law firm seeks an Environmental Associate Attorney to join their Energy and Environmental practice team in Grand Rapids, MI. The ideal candidate will possess 3-6 years of experience in public utility regulatory actions, environmental enforcement actions, and regulatory compliance. Candidates with experience from federal or Midwestern state agencies are encouraged to apply. A background in economics, engineering, geology, or other scientific fields is welcomed but not required.

Duties

• Handle public utility regulatory actions and environmental enforcement actions.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Engage in environmental litigation, including CERCLA cost recovery and toxic tort cases.
• Participate in energy rate work and air quality regulation matters.
• Manage environmental transactions such as real estate, M&A, and site remediation.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in environmental law.
• Experience in a law firm or government agency at the federal or state level.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar admission in good standing.
