Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Aliso Viejo, CA. This role offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful client interaction, strategic case development, and trial preparation. The successful candidate will work on a variety of dispute-based matters, gaining hands-on experience and developing subject-matter expertise.

Duties

• Work on matters from pre-litigation through resolution, including litigation.
• Evaluate claims, analyze liability and damages, and develop case strategies.
• Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments and strategies.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and counsel.
• Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and arbitrations.
• Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and assist with trial preparation.
• Appear at hearings and other court proceedings.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to evaluate risks and maximize case value.
• Manage litigation deadlines and procedural requirements.
• Stay current on developments in California law.

Requirements

• 0-3+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience evaluating claims and developing case strategies.
• Experience in mediations and other ADR proceedings.
• Strong negotiation, legal writing, and advocacy skills.
• Excellent client communication and relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Sound judgment and professionalism.
• Experience or interest in California homeowner association law is a plus.
• Experience in real estate, business, administrative, personal injury, or family law is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in California.
