Director, Intellectual Property & Privacy Counsel
The candidate will assist General Counsel in analysis of intellectual property issues. Oversight of the drafting, negotiation, and/or filing of legal documents including patent applications, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, responses to office action from various patent offices, including the USPTO, agreements, and licenses. Strategic management of global IP portfolios for company programs, including patent prosecution, patent and trademark maintenance, trademark and associated IP diligence. Provide IP/legal support (status reports, due diligence, etc.) for other groups within the company, e.g. Business Development, Investor Relegations, Regulatory, Tech Ops. Stay current on emerging trends in intellectual property and privacy law through continuing legal education, reading, professional conferences, and participating in professional associations. Assist General Counsel in the implementation, maintenance, and compliance with privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and other state, federal, and global privacy statutes. Assist General Counsel on other legal projects on as as-needed basis. Will work closely with the General Counsel and internal customers, vendors, outside counsel and consultants. Business areas supported include: business development, investor relations, research and development, IT, clinical trials (commercial products and potential pipeline products), corporate communications, manufacturing, and others.
